First heard in Que’s RIP Station North Sadboi mix, “The Power” is the last single from December’s Caviar Dreams: The Revival of the No-Fi King, one of two upcoming projects exclusively produced by Benji Armstrong. The song is due out on DSPs on 11/11 (the one-year-anniversary of BCB 2 as well as what would’ve been Mama Young’s 71st birthday). Continuing the protest-heavy energies of “Baka Ga Kirai” and “Caviar Dreams,” “The Power” is an anthem against people who want to hold others back. It’s an anthem that’s embracing of pro-Blackness, while still saying that there’s more to Black lives mattering than just someone shouting “Black Lives Matter.” The song’s cover art also features the new “SOTB” typeface, after officially retiring the old SOTB logo typeface after “Baka Ga Kirai.” Check out “The Power” via Apple Music below.
