Miranda Joan Channels Janet Jackson on “Overstimulated”

The pandemic has had just about everyone cooped up and ready to enter back into the world for most of the last couple years. As restrictions are easing and COVID’s not as severe in some situations, people are finally getting their wish and the world is slowly, but surely, opening back up. On “Overstimulated,” Canadian singer-songwriter Miranda Joan understands this and sexily sings about getting back into the world.

Sonically, the song and its vibes reminds me a bit of Janet Jackson, down to the sensual nature of it all, the hushed vocals and danceability of the track. But it’s not just about getting one’s freak on. Instead, the track, like many Janet songs, also delves into just wanting to be around people and take in their essence. I’m here for this sort of song because it’s how I feel after being away from people for too long. I’m introverted AF, but I love being around certain people. If you’re like me, you’ll probably love this one. Check out the visuals below, be on the lookout for Joan’s Overstimulated album (which is coming soon) and support dope music in all its forms.
