As a guy, I know that men can say some really f***ed-up stuff, even if it sounds “okay” to them. I’ve been guilty of it, as well (I’m not perfect; however, I correct my mistakes). However, harassing women when they’re just out and about minding their business? Nah, I’m good on that. No one deserves to be reduced to breasts and butts and the like, especially not the bearers of life.

Enter Oakley Riot and their song “Lady Macbeth.”

The song is angry, but quite tongue-in-cheek. The nature of it allows Oakley to just vent their frustrations at societal “norms” and let me tell you: it’s glorious. Think “Kill Bill” if “Bill” was a lewd crude dude, not an ex-boyfriend who deals with a murderous ex who’s “so ‘mature.'” Sonically, I haven’t really heard anything like it, as it blends the fury of an alt-rock song from the 90s with alternative-pop leanings from the 2020s. This “gothic-pop” artist seems to have a bright future in front of them–especially if they can keep their wit as they go deeper into their career.
