New SOTBMusic: @_anxt Is Coming to America
ANXT may’ve “came off the [slave] boat [and] still can’t stay afloat.” But, that’s not stopping him from trying to uplift his people in this new track. Backed by traditional sounds, the Chicago native effortlessly speaks on his people’s past, their hand in creating our society, and how he plans to help us all reach […]

I got this one in my inbox from Joe Hova, who’s been hitting my ears and eyes with some dopeness recently. Pat Ambrosio and Roy The Savage are New York-based rappers who let their friendly bond create some dope music. The production on this one draws you in while the lyrics ride effortlessly and just […]

Charlie and Sleezy channel their inner soul singer (read: more like Andre 3000 on “Hey Ya” than John Legend on “Ordinary People”) on this new 90s-embracing track. However, instead of going through track-by-track, I want to talk about its impact on me as a person and an artist. Somehow this album is still underrated and I hope that my thoughts on it will introduce at least one new set […]

I can’t really speak much on the origin of the collaboration between D-Gut and K1NG ELJAY; I’ll leave that to you to read on Joe Hova’s site. But what I do know is this: the nostalgia gods shone brightly on this one. From the feel-good energy, to the iPod-esque imagery, down to the sample used (Funkadelic’s […]
